Welcome

Congratulations and Thank You
A Message from Ricardo Khan,
Artistic Director and Co-founder

When such an anniversary opportunity arises to pay tribute and to honor paths that have taken the Crossroads' dream so far, it's a moment in history that's exciting for us all--Artist, Company and Audience alike!  It's a time to party! It's a cause to be both celebrated and learned from, for it is a reminder of how far boldness of vision can take you when you remain true to it.  Each of the three "Crossroads' Classics" we are bringing back in our 30th year was born of a bold vision in some artist's head.  For the play that changed the face of the American Theatre, "The Colored Museum," it was a very young George C. Wolfe who envisioned it.  For what went on to become Crossroads' first musical to go to Broadway, "It Ain't Nothin' But the Blues," it was the late great  Ron Taylor.  And in the case of "Sheila's Day," it was a South African born writer, Duma Ndlovu, who entered into a barebones summer workshop in the old, non-airconditioned Crossroads with an ensemble of twelve women to develop a simple idea that soon turned into a multinational landmark play.  What better way to celebrate Crossroads' amazing thirty year journey than in celebration of boldness and dreams along the way.

See you at the theater!

Ricardo Khan
